Mark an order paid or partially paid
When payment arrives for an order, record it in The NEST so your balance, payment tracking, and business reports stay accurate.
### Record a payment
Open the order and use the payment controls to record the amount you received.
Enter the actual amount paid rather than simply marking an order paid when the payment does not match the full outstanding balance.
### Partial payments
If you receive only part of what you're owed, record the amount you actually received.
The NEST keeps the remaining balance outstanding so you can continue tracking what is still due.
Additional payments can be recorded as they arrive until the balance is satisfied.
### Full payments
When the recorded payments satisfy the amount due, The NEST recognizes the order as paid.
This keeps completed receivables from continuing to appear as money you're waiting to collect.
### Payments received through a connected invoice
If a customer pays through an online payment option connected to your invoice, The NEST can receive the payment information and reconcile it back to the associated order.
You should not need to manually record the same payment again.
### Why accurate payment records matter
Payment information is used beyond the individual order.
Keeping payments current helps The NEST accurately represent your outstanding receivables, payment history, reporting, and the financial history associated with your business relationships.
If the amount received differs from what you expected, record what actually happened. Your records should reflect the real transaction rather than forcing every order into a simple paid-or-unpaid status.
