Generate and send an invoice
The NEST can generate an invoice directly from an order using the information already associated with the transaction.
Before sending your first invoice, review your invoice preferences under **Settings** so your business information and invoice presentation are set up the way you want them.
### Preview the invoice
Open an order and choose the invoice option to open the invoice workspace.
Review the invoice before sending it. This gives you a chance to confirm the recipient, order information, amount due, and the way the services are presented.
### Review the fee information
The invoice is built from the financial information associated with the order.
Depending on the type of service and the information recorded, the invoice may present the order differently so the billing document reflects the work that was actually performed.
Make sure the order's fee information is correct before sending the invoice rather than trying to use the finished invoice to correct the underlying order.
### Download or print
You can download or print the invoice when you need to deliver it outside of The NEST or retain a separate copy.
### Send from The NEST
When appropriate, you can send the invoice directly from the invoice workspace.
The NEST keeps the invoice connected to the order so its billing history remains part of the transaction record.
If you deliver the invoice another way, use the available invoice controls to keep its sent status accurate.
### Online payments
When online payment is available for the invoice, the customer can pay through the connected payment workflow.
Payments reported back to The NEST are reconciled with the associated order so the balance and payment history can update without requiring you to enter the same payment manually.
### The order remains the source of truth
If you notice an incorrect fee, company, signer, service, or other order detail while previewing an invoice, correct the underlying order information first.
Then return to the invoice.
Keeping the order accurate ensures your invoice, payment tracking, reporting, and relationship history are all working from the same information.
